Chu Throws His Name In The Hat

Longtime local activist Kansen Chu has announced he will run to replace Chuck Reed for City Council. Chu has a decorated political past and looks to be the presumptive Democratic fav. MW talked about Chu's likely opponent, Hon Lien, yesterday. As usual, SV411 has resorted to idiotic characterizations of the candidates by comparing Lien to a "Maxxum model" and introducing Kansen with the "chu dynasty" as the heading. Pretty funny, Sv411. I think I get the joke: his last name is Chu and there was a dynasty in China with the same name! That's really funny guys! You know what else would be funny? When talking about Taiwanese politics referring to Chiang Chin-kuo as "P.F."! Grow up guys.... Seriously.

We all know how SV411/Metro have built their distribution chain --- on the backs of the sex industry (porn, escorts, strip clubs, etc. which fill their weekly ad quotas). It's not surprising that their blog has resorted to sex appeal in discussing the new political candidate. If I'm Lien, I don't know if I'm flattered for the compliment or if I'm offended that my first characterization is based on my looks.

Either way, it's clear where the Reed machine will stand on this election. Get ready for COMPAC/SV411/McEnery/Reed/Merc/etc. to chime in with its typical rhetoric soon.

sigh....I wanted to add something to my comment and ended up deleting it...bottom line is that noting how "good looking" Hon Lien is a low blow. Why is it that we aren't discussing Chu's looks? What difference does it make if a candidate is good looking or not? And why is it always women that get these sexist remarks?

Do you have SV411 envy? They broke more news in the election than just about anyone.

HAHAHA!!! SV411 broke news? It's news that Cindy Chavez refers to someone as Mike instead of Michael? It's news that a candidate for City Council looks like a Maxim model? It's news that Mayor Watch is operated by a couple of "dudes"? But whenever anything bad broke about Chuck, SV411 went silent for days.

SV411 was and is a million times more useful and more pertinent than this site run by C students from a 4th rate state school (all CSUs are 3rd rate at best).

Thankfully despite this site's inept attempts at biased coverage, prode has been restored. Reed in '06!

I'm not going to attack you for that spelling error, but I will ask what makes you say that this site is run by C students at 4th rate schools? Whoever is pulling the strings behind this site, I'm guessing they're a little more intelligent than you give them credit. Not many C students at my school are creating sites to contribute to political discourse. And as you've frequently pointed out, san jose lady is more than a C student at a 4th rate school. However, I will tell you this, I would much rather read relevant news than the drivel that is posted on SV411. If Mayor Watch is operated by C students, then SV411 is operated by middle school drop-outs.

ben, why bother? You seem like you are articulate and put together a sentence. you have read the mindless, biased drivel on this site. it is not coming from any intelligent base.

Fine if you support Chavez, I can agree to disagree. But don't defend the idiocy and lack of intellectual acumen portrayed by the orginators of this site. That does not make you look good at all.

Pride restored babay!

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I understand that you are trying to compliment me so as to appeal to my ego and possibly convert me to a more neutral observant of the election. I also understand that you were aiming at using as many collegiate words as you could in your comment so as to show your intelligence. However, I don't quite understand your argument. Mayor Watch does have a slanting bias towards Cindy Chavez, it doesn't take a C level student at a 4th rate school to figure that much out. But Mayor Watch covers the story. While SV411 and SJI called the election for Chuck in August, Mayor Watch continued to post about breaking news. I'm not going to go back into the details of SV411's contributions to the election, but I have stated them earlier in this post. As far as mindless drivel, with all due respect, how do you explain saying restore the pride babay at the conclusion of all of your comments? I'm not saying that every anonymous poster is you, but I respect the owners of this site for continuing to approve the comments from anonymous, repetitive though they may be. If you really find issue with the articles on this site, rebut with something more pertinent than "Restore the Pride, Reed In '06 Babay!" Otherwise, you're just letting the "mindless idiots" at Mayor Watch win by succeeding in making you look foolish.
