Chronicle Endorses Chavez

This has been a very busy week. Somehow I missed this endorsement that came Monday. The SF Chron endorsed Cindy Chavez: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/10/30/EDG6PKDSU31.DTL

While blogs with 3rd grader sophistication like SV411 are willing to call it a clean sweep for Reed in terms of endorsements, they do not make any amendment or even a brief reference to this endorsement. (By the way, SV411 - how come you never wrote about Chavez's clean sweep of endorsements from elected officials?)

As many are getting sick and tired of the Merc/Metro's agenda, it is refreshing to see another newspaper recognize the importance of SJ's mayoral election. (Though as an aside - I do have to say that the Merc has made babysteps toward improving the objectivity of its articles over the past week or so.)

Nice to see how journalists "outside the bubble" view the upcoming election...

I don't think print endorsements mean that much...

Especially when it's the MURK!

But how come nobody pays attention to the prestigious list of endorsers Cindy has?

I heard a rumor she just got BILL CLINTON on board. ???

The Chron got their endorsement right! Cindy is the BEST direction for our city and the fact that the Chron picked her is a wonderful addition to her extensive endorsement list.

Great choice Clinton. I hope our citizens stand up and vote Chavez come election day.

This truly is unprecedented. I don't think Clinton would get involved unless Chavez were the right candidate.

We need another newspaper in San Jo.

...and not one paid for by smut like the Metro!

What a joke they are.

They still don't get that Tom McEnery is and was a joke who financially benefited from his policies and programs in SJ.

But judging by their endorsement of Chuck Reed - a man who financially benefited from his role in the City Council by voting in the interest of a paying client - maybe that's the type of entrepreneurial spirit the Merk likes in a Mayor!

CBS poll Reed 55% Chavez 41%
Reed's lead increases with Men, Women, DTS, and Republicans. Chavez lead with Democrats shrinks to within the margin of error.

Not much left to do but start trying to make up and hope Reed throws you a bone now and then.

Keep resting on your laurels. You sit back and relax while Chavez supporters get fired up!

Reed throws us a bone now and then?

Wow, glad your vision of a mayor is one who punishes his political enemies! Very enlightened!

If Reed is winning amongst Democrats, something is wrong with the poll.

As Chuck E. Cheapskate himself said, the only poll that matters is on election day.

I see posters here live in a bizarro world where Bill Clinton has insight into San Jose politics. Please, most San Jose voters are sophisticated enough (except for Larry) to know Bill Clinton doesn't know jack about San Jose politics and has no clue who would be the best mayor for San Jose.

If Reed is winning among Democrats, there's nothing wrong with the poll, there is something wrong with Cindy's candidacy. She has the entire Democratic machine behind her and she's trailing by double digits!!

Yes yes, I know, the only poll thta matters is the one on election day. I'll be watching the returns and will be anxious to see how gracious Cindy is when she gives her concession speech. My understanding is the over/under for the time on that is 10:30pm

Yeah how could the best president since JFK have any ideas about politicians and the political climate. Clinton sure knows nothing about politics...

Values don't depend on what level of government you inhabit. Clinton's values when he was Governor were the same that shaped his policies when he was President.

He knows what it takes to be a good leader. Period.

Game, thanks for making my point. While I agree Clinton was the best president since JFK, I notice not even you are claiming he knows anything about SAN JOSE politics. I'm sure if you asked him why Cindy rushed through a $4 million subsidy for the San Jose Grand Prix w/o adequate public notice, you'd just get a blank stare (much like Cindy). Please, it's kind of sad what you Cindy loyalists are hanging your hat on these days.
